Argostoli Kefalonia

Argostoli is a the Capital of Kefalonia and is a working port.

Argostoli is the largest town/city on Kefalonia with a cosmopolitan shopping area with shops, banks, restaurants, cafes, bars and an excellent market on the harbor front.

Argostoli cannot really be classed as a holiday resort but is excellent for shopping and nights out. The main shopping area is pedestrianised and has plenty of shops for the hardened shopper. The main square Plateia Valianou is great on a night with top class restaurants and bars around the edges.

For beaches is nearby Lassi a purpose built resort with good beaches and more good restaurants and bars. If you walk to Lassi go by the coast road and see The Lighthouse of Saint Theodore it was built by the British Governor Napier; it is known locally as “Fanari” a round building with white columns. The lighthouse it is one of the best known sites of Kefalonia and is seen on many postcards.

Argostoli also has museums you must visit the Folk Museum and see the Icons in the public library.

When on Kefalonia you must visit Argostoli at least once preferably on an evening
