first timers to A.E this Sept,(but have been to number of Greek Isles).we won't have a safety dep box at our accom, dont really want to carry all our cash round with us..travell agent has suggested use of a pre loaded currency card instead of trav checks, are they accepted in A.E??..is there an A.T.M/Bank??..does bank have S.D.Boxes for rent??..i know that greece is quite safe but just for peace of mind would appreciate any info..thanks..

Hi first off welcome to our forums.

I do not have any knowledge of currency cards but Agia Efimia does have a bank and ATM.

We always take travellers cheques with us so never have much cash to leave around. Some apartments do have safes in the rooms we was in Skala in June and Aug and we at both places could have rented a box for 12 euros for the week.

A tip for you, in September make sure you have something to keep the cool breeze off on the night time.

Hope this helps

Yes that would be a safe option.

Agia Efimia is a nice village, small and quite. You will enjoy it.

Have a good holiday and dont forget to come back here and tell us about it

Did you try the currency cards.

They keep asking if you want one when you get euros at Thomas Cook.

I thought we might try one.

I do not think they are that popular yet.

Hi there, i've been using my Cashplus prepaid currency card for a while now and it's accepted all over the world. I much prefer them to travellers cheques which i was always paranoid of losing. There are some good sites with indepth tables comparing currency cards so you can find the one most suitable to your needs. Good luck!
